Too Cool for Internet Explorer

Scanner

I am on a quest to loose Windows, and I was seriously worried that I had to do without my scanner. It is a relatively old scanner, bought in 1999 - a CanoScan FB630u.

I Googled for 10 minutes, and then I thought... what the heck, why not just plug it in and see what happens. So I started Gimp and selected File -> Acquire -> XSane: Device dialog.... To my surprise, my scanner have never been more stable. I've had huge problems on Windows, but on my FC5 machine, it just works!

XSane is a graphical scanning frontend. It uses the SANE-library to talk to scanners. To be able to use your scanner, it must be supported by the SANE-library. If you are about to buy a scanner, it is a good idea to consult the list of supported devices on www.sane-project.org.
